Frequently Asked Questions
“When should I drop off my dog?”
Drop-off for grooming and bath dogs is 7:30- 10:00AM. Boarding dogs do not have a designated drop-off window and are welcome to drop off anytime during our operating hours. Daycare hours are from 7:00AM- 7:00PM.
“What do I need to bring when my dog boards?”
We recommend bringing their food. While we do have food here in case of emergencies, research shows that switching a dog’s food abruptly may upset their stomach. You also need to bring any medication your pet takes daily. We provide bowls, blankets, treats and toys, but if you would like to bring a comfort item you may do so. Please know that about 75% of items brought eventually need to go through our wash which means they may no longer ” smell like home ” as their original intent, but that they are also removed from your pets’ personal space and you may need to ASK for them at pick up!
“I used to be able to get an appointment the next day, why is the next available appointment in 2 weeks?”
Due to housing developments in the area, we are happy to say that our clientele has nearly doubled recently. Though demands for grooming are high, we are still a relatively small business that has 2-4 groomers per day, meaning that we are more likely to book up sooner. If you would like to set up a recurring appointment (ex: full groom every 6 weeks) please speak with our receptionists. Otherwise, we strongly suggest that you call 2-3 weeks ahead of your desired time to schedule a grooming appointment.

“I was hoping for a longer groom length but my dog may have some matting. What are my options?”
We always try our best to honor the client’s requests when accepting groom specifics. Keeping in mind that the comfort of the dog is our priority, there are times we may not be able to brush out matting. In cases where matting is severe, continuously tugging at their skin for hours in an attempt to brush them out will irritate their skin. We urge pet owners to brush their pet’s fur every day if you would like to maintain a longer length. We also suggest scheduling tune-ups or baths in between full-grooms to maintain their coat.
“My dog just went to the vet but I got an email saying their vaccines need to be updated. Why is this?”
To help our clients manage their records, our software system will send out email reminders when vaccines are out of date (or close to). Unless you ask your vet directly, they do not automatically send your pet’s vaccine record after every visit. If you receive this email, please provide us with your most recent copy of your vaccine record and we will update your pet’s profile.
“I did not receive an email confirmation after making an appointment. How do I fix this?”
Email confirmations are crucial! Please provide us with your current email address and we will update your profile.
“Can I still bring my dog if he/ she has fleas?”
Yes, please notify the receptionist if your pet has fleas. We REQUIRE pets with live fleas to be administered CAPSTAR®, which begins to kills fleas in minutes. As a flea preventative, we can also apply FRONTLINE® for an additional charge.
“Do you guys board cats?”
Yes, we offer cat boarding for $25/ night. We have a cat room that is separated from our main boarding room with toys, litterboxes, water, and large kennels if your cat prefers to have their own space
“Do I have to pay when I drop-off?”
You may pre-pay if you would like, but most clients pay at pick-up.
“How long does it take to groom a dog?”
The answer varies! Here at The Fetching Post, we receive all of our dogs in the morning before 10:00AM. Our groomers will prep a dog, and then they will be bathed and blow dried, and then the groomer will finish the groom. We do not dedicate specific slots to complete a dog from start-to-finish, as we have found that this rotation method works the most efficiently to ensure that we can balance extra time as needed with your pet while obliging clients with sooner appointments . The receptionist will assign a pick-up time for you in the morning when you come to drop off, which is influenced by many factors including size, coat condition, groom requests, and order of drop-off. If your dog has a MEDICAL NEED, please speak with a receptionist to discuss your options.
